Another brunch adventure for a few weeks back was a return to Grace Cafe in Fitzroy. N and I had been a few months back and fell in love with their crepes with quark (no idea what quark was until then, now absolutely love it!). They had just newly opened the cutest courtyard out the back (includes an old shipping container), but unfortunately it was a beautiful day and we had both forgot our sunglasses, so we decided to stay inside and avoid the glare.
Last time around I went for the baked eggs (very delicious by the way), so this time I went with something new – the mexican beans with salsa, avocado, coriander, with a side of cheesy toast and jalapenos. It doesn’t seem to be on their online menu, but it wasn’t a special, so perhaps it is a new addition?
I was pretty much swayed by the cheesy toast, and I wasn’t disappointed. The baked beans were cooked with a tomato based sauce, and nicely complimented with the fresh avo and salsa – plus the kick of jalapenos added that perfect spicy element.
N went for the quark-filled crepes with berry coulis again, they were too tasty not to reorder. The berry coulis was just tart enough to counter the sweetness from the cream and the quark.
